The Kona Palisades Artists Group hosts its eighth annual “Open Studio Tour” on Saturday and Sunday. This year the creative group consists of 14 Big Island artists living in close proximity to each other in the Kona Palisades Estates area. It is a unique opportunity when artists open their studios to the public for touring and artists’ demonstrations of their work process with an opportunity to purchase their art. For the safety of the artists and touring customers, we are requiring facial masks to be worn at all times. Hawaii mandates and CDC guidelines will be followed.
The Kona Palisades Artists Group members this year include: Stefanie Culbertson (watercolors); Amanda and Chris Freed (woodcraft and laser engraving); Cynthia Hankins (photography); Bill Jaeger (stained glass); Kathleen Jaeger (mosaic, acrylics) ; Barbie Koncher (hand-forged copper jewelry, encaustic painting); Tamisha Lee (fused glass); Heather Mettler (sandblasted glass vessels); Shannon Nakaya (origami-inspired sculpture); Maya Sorum (watercolors, jewelry); Bill Twibell (gyotaku/fish printing); and David Zinn (acrylics). Guest artist is Mark Tomczak (finger-painted crystal).
The tour will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days with signs posted directing you to the seven stops starting from either the top or the bottom of Ka’iminani Drive.
