Fire officials are investigating the cause of a Saturday morning fire in Pahoa.

Responding to the 8:28 a.m. alarm, Hawaii Fire Department personnel arrived at 15-2794 Nenue St. to find a 625-square-foot wood-framed, single-family residence partially involved in fire. The fire was contained to the structure with damage estimated at $140,000.

The fire department noted the house appeared to have been abandoned with very little contents and no signs of occupants on scene upon arrival of firefighters.
