Gillie Silva Jr.
Gillie C. “Gil” Silva Jr., 78, of Hilo, died Sept. 22, 2021, at his residence. Born in Honolulu, he was a U.S. Navy veteran, lineman at HELCO; dining room manager at Kona Surf Resort; State of Hawaii Airport Fire Fighter/FEO; Hawaii Constitutional Convention Delegate, District 1; Athletic Director and Assistant Boys Basketball Coach at Saint Joseph High School; State of Hawaii House Representative and Co-owner of HR WORKS, LLC; member of the Lehua Jaycees, Rotary Club of Hilo, Hawaii Island Portuguese Chamber of Commerce, Hilo Yacht Club, Ancient Order of Foresters, Court Mauna Kea No. 8854 and Board President of Going Home Hawaii.

He is survived by wife, Janie Silva of Hilo; sons, Gillie (Kawai) Silva III and Michael Silva of Maui, George Kalani (Jodi) Silva of Oahu and D.J. (Aysha Spencer) Silva of Hilo; daughters, Jana (Mark) Love and Jenni Kim (Robyn Trivette) Silva of Hilo; brother, H.K Silva of California; sisters, Berlinda Dixon of Kauai, Barbara (Jerry) Gumbs of California and Geovanna (Chuck) Lewis of Honolulu; eight grandchildren; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews.

Albert Pavao
Albert “Beans” L. Pavao, 92, of Hilo, died Sept. 21, 2021, at his residence. Born May 24, 1929, in Hilo, he was a supervisor for the former Hilo Coast Processing Co., a heavy equipment operator for the former Hilo Sugar Mill, a U.S. Army World War II veteran and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo and Puuwai Opio Senior Softball Team.
Friends may call at 8:30 a.m. Nov. 15 at St. Joseph Catholic Church for a 9:30 a.m. Mass. Burial to follow at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2 pavilion at noon. Casual attire.
He is survived by sons, Larry (Jocelynn) Pavao, Jerry (Rosalinda) Pavao and Gary Pavao; brothers, Dennis (Angelita) Pavao and Pat (Eileen) Pavao; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
