Chieko Elizares

Chieko Elizares, 96, of Hilo, died June 18, 2021. Born in Papa’aloa, she was a homemaker.

Private services will be held at a later date.

She is survived by daughter, Fern Elizares of Waipahu, Oahu; sons, Jed Elizares of Mesa, Arizona and Casey Elizares (Laurie Ann) of Keaau; brother, Hisayoshi Higuchi of Utah; three grandchildren; four great-grandsons; and nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Neal Furusho

Neal Masaichi Furusho, 69, of Waikoloa, died Sept. 27, 2021, at Hale Ho’ola Hamakua. Born in Pahala, he was a manager at the then-Outrigger Waikoloa Resort, then before retirement, an airport greeter for the Four Season Hualalai.

Private services. No flowers or koden (monetary gifts).

He is survived by former spouse, Jo-Ann Furusho; sons, Jeremie (Diana) Furusho and Jarin Furusho, all of California; sisters, Lois (Andre) Ajimine of Waikoloa, and Karleen Shibuya and Jo-Ann Rew, both of Honolulu; two grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and cousins.

Ryan Pacheco

Ryan Keli’inui Pacheco, 52, of Pepe’ekeo died Sept. 18, 2021, at the Hilo Medical Center. Born in Honolulu, he was a salesman for Terminix Pest Control and U.S. Army veteran.

Friends may call at 4:30 p.m. Oct. 22 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 6 p.m. a celebration of life. Casual attire.

He is survived by companion, Robynne Tanaka of Pepe’ekeo; children, Kaipo Pacheco of Mountain View, and Kamaha’o Rieta, Kaunaloa Rieta, Harlow Rieta and Wyatt Pacheco, all of Pepe’ekeo; mother, Linda Pacheco of Mountain View; brothers, Kevin (Donna) Pacheco and Kaleikini Pacheco, all of Honolulu, Jason (Grace) Pacheco of Waimea, and Kaimi (Naomi) Pacheco of Utah; sister, Lindsay Pacheco of Honolulu; abd numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.

Conrad Kelii

Conrad Kaikulani Takeshi Kelii, 46, of Hilo died Aug. 31, 2021, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, he was a sub-contractor, and member of the Piihonua Hawaiian Homestead Community Association.

Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Oct. 23 at Dodo Mortuary chapel carport for a drive-through visitation.

He is survived by father, Ronald Kelii of Hilo; companion, Mapuana Nobriga of Hilo; hanai daughters, Briana Nobriga-Namihira of Arizona and Braysha Nobriga-Namihira of Hilo; brothers, Dane (Elena) Cairns and Ronald (Sonya Taosaka-Kelii) Kelii, all of Hilo; sister, Dare (Byron) Omoto, of Torrance, California, and Lisa (Frank Rios) Kelii-Rios and DeAnna (Adrian) Medallia, al of Hilo; and numerous uncles, aunts, nephews and nieces.

Theodore Brattstrom

Theodore Allen Brattstrom, 68, of Volcano died Oct. 2, 2021, at his residence. Born in Santa Monica, California, he was a science teacher at Pearl City High, Keaau Middle and Ka’u High schools, HAM radio operator, amateur astronomer, and a former member of the Peace Corp in Nepal.

He is survived by wife, Lisa King of Volcano; mother, Cecile Leavell; father, Bayard Brattstrom; and brother, David Brattstrom, all of California,

Chung Dempsey

Chung Cha “Kim” Dempsey, 79, of Kailua-Kona, died Oct. 8, 2021, at Kona Community Hospital. Born Aug. 13, 1942 in Tamyang Kun, South Korea, she was a homemaker, worked for US Bank, served as a volunteer for St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Albany, Oregon and at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church and was a member of Catholic Daughters of America.

Friends may call at 10 a.m. Nov. 13 at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Kona for Mass.

She is survived by sisters, Sin Cha Cummins of Vancouver, Washington, Kyong Hui Kim and Su Pok Kim; brothers, Yong Sun Kim and Yong Hun Kim, all of South Korea; and two grandchildren.
