Hawaii Island police are requesting the public’s assistance for information regarding an agricultural theft that occurred Oct. 7 in Hilo.
At 6:20 p.m. Oct. 7, Hilo Patrol officers responded to a facility off Mamalahoa Highway in the Wainaku area where they discovered two men in a vehicle with over 600 pounds of bananas, according to the Hawaii Police Department. The bananas were recently picked and the men did not have a bill of sale or receipt for transport.
The two suspects were identified and the bananas were recovered, however, the rightful owner of the produce remains unknown.
