Roberta Sonoda
Roberta Lynn Sonoda, 63, of Hilo died Sept. 15, 2021, at her residence. Born in Olaa, she was an adult caretaker, formerly employed at Hilo Termite and Pest Control and Primerica Insurance, member of the Akaka Falls Lions Club and New Hope Hilo.

She is survived by husband, Kent Sonoda Sr. of Hilo; daughters, Jasmine Riveira, Brittany Sonoda, Jessica (Kye) Kelekoma, and Danielle Kamakau, all of Hilo, and Jade (Kyle) Delaries and Joni (Hele) Bannister, all of Keaau; son, Josiah (Lara) Sonoda of Hilo; step-sons, Kent Sonoda Jr. and Mark (Liberty) Sonoda, all of Nevada; brothers, Max (Carole) Calica of Honolulu, Onorato (Victoria) Calica of Hilo, Dalmacio (Merce) Calica of Texas, Francisco Calica and Juan (Emelia) Calica, all of Keaau, Jostantino (Terry) Calica of Washington, and Marsilino (Susanna) Calica of Colorado; step-brother, Gene Maluyo of Kona; sisters, Christine (Rodney) Souza of Honolulu, Sofie Lopez and Vanessa Calica, all of Colorado, and Millie (Larry) McCormick of Keaau; step-sisters, Maggie (Dave) Garbacz of Waiohinu, and Arsenia Jacobo of Alaska; 19 grandchildren; one great-grandson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Clarence Texeira
Clarence Calvin Texeira, 79, of Keaau died Aug. 30, 2021, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Olaa, he was the retired owner of Tex’s Small Engine Repair and an avid hunter and fisherman.
Friends may call at 8:30 a.m. Oct. 9 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 10 a.m. service; burial to follow at Homelani Memorial Park. Casual attire.
He is survived by sons, Richard Texeira and Robert Texeira, both of Puna; daughters, Michelle (James) Joyce of Puna, and Susan (Rocky) Weber of Keaau; brother, Ronald (Judy) Texeira of Puna; sisters, Pearl Texeira of Las Vegas and Joyce (Randy) Jerneski of Hilo; 15 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Eiko Hokama
Eiko Hokama, 87, of Hilo died Sept. 12, 2021, at Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Hospice Facility. Born in Olaa, she was a retired bookkeeper for Kobayashi Travel Service.

She is survived by sons, Terence Hokama of Hilo, and Stacy Hokama of Korea; daughter, Cindy Hokama of Seattle; brother, Eiji (Sadame) Sato of Los Angeles; five grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Thomas Setoda
Thomas T. Setoda, 89, of Hilo, died Sept. 3, 2021, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Dec. 19, 1931, in Hilo, he was a retired Industrial Engineer for Rockwell International Inc. and a U.S. Army veteran.
Private services were held. Family requests no monetary gifts or flowers.
He is survived by brothers, Raymond (Aileen) Setoda of Los Angeles, Roy (Dodie) Setoda of Seattle; nieces and nephews.
