Forty-Seven new cases of COVID-19 were reported Saturday on the Big Island, pushing the island’s total case count to 10,144.
Statewide, 279 new cases were reported Saturday, bringing the state’s total to 79,851 since late February 2020, according to the Department of Health.
According to the DOH, 4,653 new cases have been reported in Hawaii in the past 14 days, including 763 on the Big Island. There has been an average of 282.7 new cases the past seven days statewide with the Big Island averaging 48 cases per day.
Kona, Hilo, Keaau and Pahoa had the largest cases over a 14 day period on the island with 158, 172, 82 and 91 cases respectively.
Hawaii County Saturday had a seven-day test positivity rate of 4.8%, still above the state’s 3.7% positivity rate.
On Saturday, 20 people with COVID-19 were hospitalized on the Big Island. Three of the island’s 24 ICU beds were available with five of the beds occupied by COVID-positive patients. Three of the five COVID patients were on a ventilator.
Twelve new coronavirus-related deaths were reported Saturday; including two on the Big Island. Of the 801 deaths confirmed and reported by the state to date, 607 were on Oahu, 87 were on Maui, 93 were on the Big Island and eight on Kauai. Five deaths were among residents outside the state.
