Anthony Misiaszek

Anthony “Tony” Misiaszek, 45, of Keaau, died Sept. 23, 2021, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Pueblo, CO., he was a businessman, real estate agent, creator of Big Island Pulse, Big Island Referral Network, board member of Big Island Sports Hall of Fame, former board member of Downtown Improvement association, and a former Rotary Club member.

Friends may call at 4:30 p.m. Sept. 30 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 6 p.m. service. Graveside committal service and burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Oct. 1 at Homelani Memorial Park, Ilima Section. Casual attire.

He is survived by wife, Jana Ortiz-Misiaszek; son, Cole (Jaesha) Misiaszek; daughters, Mia Anuhea Misiaszek and Zoey Misiaszek; parents, Joseph and Kitty Misiaszek; brother, Joseph (Kanda) Misiaszek; one granddaughter; and aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Sherran Osborne

Sherran Velto Osborne, 68, of Captain Cook, died Sept. 3, 2021 at her residence. Born Aug. 27, 1953, in Escondido, CA., she was a scholarship administrator.

Services will be held at a later date.

She is survived by daughters, Lynn Dyon of Rancho Cucamonga, CA., and Alexis (David) Marguglio and Meredith Velto, all of San Diego; and seven grandchildren.

Hilda Palacay

Hilda Palacay, 84, of Kapaau, died Aug. 28, 2021, at her residence. Born April 13, 1937, in Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, she worked and retired from Mauna Kea Beach Hotel, and was a member of the Hawi Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Filipino Community Association and Filipino Catholic Club.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. Oct. 1 at Hawi Sacred Heart Catholic Church; visitation will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. at the Saint Damien Hall; Mass at 10 a.m. Burial at Hawi County Cemetery.

She is survived by son, Jerry Palacay of Kapaau; daughter, Marina Palacay of Kapaau; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sister, Adele (Jaime) Aguinaldo of Papaikou; and numerous nieces and nephews.

John Kalawe Jr.

John Lanakila Kalawe Jr., 78, of Hawaiian Paradise Park, died Sept. 17, 2021 at his residence. Born June 2, 1943, in Koa’e, Kapoho, he was a retired sergeant for the Hawaii Police Department and worked for the state Department of Public Safety as a sheriff, and proprietor of J. Kalawe Tax Service.

Friends may call at 3 p.m. Oct. 3 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 4 p.m. service.

He is survived by wife, Joann Kalawe of Hawaiian Paradise Park; daughter, Jaymie Kalawe of Keaukaha; grandson, Tehotu Lanakila Tuare Tissot of Hawaiian Paradise Park; granddaughter, Nai’auilani Kalawe of Keaukaha; sister, Maile Tavares of Hilo; and numerous nieces and nephews.
