State health officials reported Monday 107 of the 571 new COVID-19 cases statewide were on the Big Island.
With the new cases, the Big Island’s tally reached 6,556 and state 56,670. Hawaii County and the state Monday shared a 8.3% positivity rate.
According to the DOH, 9,389 new cases have been reported in Hawaii in the past 14 days, including 1,649 on the Big Island. There has been an average of 671 new cases the past seven days statewide with the Big Island averaging 125 cases per day.
On Monday, 64 people with COVID-19 were hospitalized on the Big Island. Two of the island’s 24 ICU beds were available with 14 of the beds occupied by COVID-positive patients. Nine of those 14 patients are on ventilators.
No new coronavirus-related deaths were reported Monday. Of the 564 deaths confirmed and reported by the state to date, 433 were on Oahu, 66 were on Maui, 59 were on the Big Island and three on Kauai. Three deaths were among residents outside the state.
