Fire officials are investigating the cause of an early Thursday fire that destroyed a vacant home in Keaau.
Responding to the 2:20 a.m. alarm, firefighters arrived at 15-1526 6th Avenue to find a single-family dwelling engulfed in flames, according to the Hawaii Fire Department. A neighbor reported the fire after hearing their dogs barking and observed flames coming from the structure.
Firefighters reported the fire under control at 3:33 a.m. and out at 7:05 a.m. No injuries were reported.
The home, valued at $149,500, was deemed a complete loss. No nearby structures were threatened.
