With the new cases, the Big Island’s tally reached 5,157. Hawaii County currently has a 7.4% test positivity rate compared to the 7.3% positivity rate statewide.
According to the DOH, 6,709 new cases have been reported in Hawaii in the past 14 days, including 1,301 on the Big Island. There has been an average of 512 new cases the past seven days statewide with the Big Island averaging 94.9 cases per day.
Since the end of last February, 48,397 people have tested positive for COVID-19 across Hawaii.
The department Thursday also reported the COVID-related death of an Oahu man, 30-39, who had been hospitalized and had underlying health conditions. Of the 546 deaths confirmed and reported by the state to date, 420 were on Oahu, 62 were on Maui, 59 were on the Big Island and two on Kauai. Five deaths were among residents outside the state.
