Stephen Joseph Winn, 71, of Honaunau, died Aug. 2, 2021, at his residence. Born July 20, 1950 in Wiesbaden, Germany, he was a general contractor and owner of Winn Construction.

He is survived by daughter, Maggie (Adam) Sleeper of California; stepdaughter, Melinda Lacey of Honaunau; stepson, Oliver Lacey of California; brothers, William (JoAnn) Winn of Virginia, and Michael Winn of California; four grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ruth Tasaka
Ruth Tokie Tasaka, 98, of Honokaa, died July 23, 2021, at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born Oct. 2, 1922, in Honokaa, she was a retired clerk from the former Davies Hamakua Sugar Co. and member of the Honokaa Hongwanji Mission and Buddhist Women’s Association.
Private services were held. Family requests no monetary gifts.
She is survived by brother-in-law, Masao Tasaka of Honokaa; sisters-in-law, Nancy Kaaekuahiwi of Honokaa, and Ruth Akiko Dumadag of Kaneohe, Oahu; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Helen Napeahi
Helen Kamanookalaniipo Napeahi, 69, of Hilo, died July 8, 2021, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Honolulu, she was a resident manager with Hilo Val Hala and Hale Aloha Apartments, a school bus driver for Roberts Hawaii, and a member of the Keaukaha Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Edward Kanahele Kinzie, 49, of Hilo and formerly of Kauai, died July 1, 2021, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Honolulu, he was a groundskeeper at Hawaii Community College and a former cook at Kulani Prison.
