Fire officials are investigating the cause of a Friday morning fire that destroyed a home in Keaau.
Responding to the 6:38 a.m. alarm, firefighters arrived in the area of Mauna Loa Drive and Pua Street in the Aloha Estates subdivision to find a single-story home engulfed in flames and partially collapsed, according to the Hawaii Fire Department. Firefighters were able to get the flames under control by 7:16 a.m. and declared the fire out at 7:40 a.m.
The home was deemed a complete loss, with damage estimated at $175,000. No injuries were reported.
