The Big Island reported 111 new cases of COVID-19 Friday, sending the island’s total case count to 3,950.
Of the 622 new cases reported by the Department of Health on Friday, 359 were on Oahu, 74 in Maui County and eight on Kauai. Seventy cases were reported from residents who tested positive out of state.
Since the end of last February, 41,925 people have tested positive for COVID-19 across Hawaii.
DOH said Friday’s reported case count included previously unreported cases from July 28-29. The average daily case count number is 314.
The Big Island had a 6.8% seven-day positivity rate, over the state’s 5.1% positivity rate on Friday. Over the last 14 days, 521 cases have been reported on the Big Island. Over the past week, the island has reported an average of 50 cases per day.
There were 114 individuals statewide hospitalized on Thursday including 16 on the Big Island.
Three new deaths attributed to the virus were reported on Friday with two on Oahu and one in Maui County. Of the 537 deaths confirmed and reported by the state to date, 413 were on Oahu, 61 were on Maui, 58 were on the Big Island and two on Kauai. Three deaths were among residents outside the state.
Community testing and vaccination sites will remain at the Kona Community Aquatic Center on Tuesdays and the Afook Chinen Civic Auditorium in Hilo on Wednesdays from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Testing and vaccinations are free to the public for non-travel-related purposes.
