Fifty new COVID-19 cases were reported on the Big Island Thursday, sending the island’s total case count to 3,558.
Statewide, 243 new cases were reported by the Department of Health with 146 of those cases on Oahu, 14 in Maui County and eight on Kauai. Twenty-five cases were among residents diagnosed out of state.
Since the end of last February, 39,892 people have tested positive for COVID-19 across Hawaii.
The Big Island had a 5.3% seven-day positivity rate, over the state’s 3.9% positivity rate on Thursday. Over the last 14 days, 248 cases have been reported on the Big Island. Over the past week, the island has reported an average of 22.1 cases per day.
There were 73 individuals statewide hospitalized on Thursday including seven on the Big Island
Three new deaths attributed to the virus were reported on Thursday on Oahu. Of the 527 deaths confirmed and reported by the state to date, 408 were on Oahu, 58 were on Maui, 56 were on the Big Island and two on Kauai. Three deaths were among residents outside the state.
Community testing is scheduled Tuesday at Kona Aquatics in Kailua-Kona from 3 to 6 p.m. and Wednesday at Afook Chinen Civic Auditorium in Hilo from 3 to 6 p.m.
