Hawaii Community Correctional Center reported three inmate recoveries bringing the total active inmate cases down to just five, the Department of Public Safety on Wednesday announced. In addition, there are no HCCC inmates in the hospital and there was also one staff recovery meaning there are no more active staff cases at the Hilo jail.
On July 6, according to the department’s COVID-19 testing reports, 1,303 inmates have been tested with 249 positive results at the Hilo jail since the start of the pandemic in February 2020.
