Five new COVID-19 cases was reported by state health officials Tuesday on the Big Island, bringing the total case tally to 3,211 since late-February 2020.
Statewide, 20 new cases were reported by the Department of Health with nine of those cases on Oahu, three in Maui County and one on Kauai. Two cases were among residents diagnosed out of state.
Since the end of last February, 37,387 people have tested positive for COVID-19 across Hawaii.
The Big Island still had a 2.6% seven-day positivity rate, over the state’s 1.1% positivity rate on Tuesday. Over the last 14 days, 167 cases have been reported on the Big Island. Over the past week, the island has reported an average of 8.9 cases per day.
No new coronavirus-related deaths were reported on Tuesday. Of the 513 coronavirus-related deaths confirmed and reported by the state to date, 397 were on Oahu, 57 were on Maui, 54 were on the Big Island and two on Kauai. Three deaths were among residents outside the state.
