Four new COVID-19 cases reported Sunday increased the Big Island’s total case count to 2,848.
Statewide, 48 new cases were reported by the Department of Health with 35 of those cases on Oahu and Kauai one. No cases were reported out of Maui County. Four residents were diagnosed while outside the state.
Since the end of last February, 35,819 people have tested positive for COVID-19 across Hawaii.
Over the past two weeks, the Big Island has reported 50 cases, or an average of four cases per day. The Big Island Sunday still had a 0.9% positivity rate, under the statewide rate of 1.2%
Also Sunday, a total of 37 patients with the virus were in Hawaii hospitals with one reported on the Big Island.
Two new coronavirus-related deaths were reported on Sunday. Both were on Oahu. Of the 496 coronavirus-related deaths confirmed and reported by the state to date, 384 were on Oahu, 54 were on Maui, 53 were on the Big Island and two on Kauai. Three deaths were among residents outside the state.
