Paul Mercado Sr.
Paul Mercado Sr., 98, of Keaau, died May 2, 2021, at Pohai Malama. He was born in Kalaoa in 1922.
Services will be held at a later date.
He is survived by sons, Paul Mercado and James Mercado; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Francisco Vallente
Francisco Garro Vallente, 89, of Waimea, died April 11, 2021 at Hale Ho’ola Hamakua. Born Sept. 26, 1931, in Bacarra, Philippines, he was a vegetable farming worker for Nakamoto Farms in Waimea and member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Honokaa.
Friends may call at 8 a.m. May 28 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Honokaa for a 10 a.m. Mass. Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. at the Honokaa Catholic Cemetery.
He is survived by daughters, Narcisa Galas of Captain Cook, Dominga Vallente of Paauhau and Vicky (Jimmy) Juan of Waimea; son, Modesto (Asuncion) Vallente of Honokaa; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; sisters, Maria Queja and Carmen Afaga of Philippines; brothers, Marcelino Vallente of Honokaa and Juan Vallente of Waimea; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Annie Kenoi
Annie Kenoi, 72, of Hilo, died May 11, 2021, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Aug. 10, 1948, in Hilo, she was member of The Apostolic Faith Church “Jesus Coming Soon” in Hilo.
Friends may call at 9 a.m. May 27 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 10:30 a.m. service. Burial to follow at Homelani Memorial Park (Ilima Section).
She is survived by brother, Napoleon Kenoi of Hilo; and sisters, Pearl Kawahara and Mary (Robert) DeMotta of Hilo, and Lillian Bernardez of Indiana.

Nickolas Aka
Nickolas Aiona Aka, 41, of Oceanside, California, and formerly of Keaau, died April 4, 2021, in Oceanside, California. Born in Hilo, he was a U.S. Marine Corps major serving as an Aviation Supply Officer at Camp Pendleton, California.

He is survived by wife, Roxanne Aiona Aka of Oceanside, California; son, Kalikinoah Aiona Aka of Oceanside, California; daughter, Zoie Aiona Aka of Oceanside, California; father, William Aiona Aka of Keaau; mother, Edna (Jim Chestnut) Arakawa of Volcano; brother, Neilson (Kauimaeole) Aiona Aka of Las Vegas; sister, Chelsie (Leo) Kavitz of South Korea; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

James Keohokalole
James “Kimo” “Mo” Hoapili Teri’iho’ohuna’ari’i Keohokalole, 83, of Mountain View, died April 9, 2021, at his residence. Born in Honolulu, he was a maintenance mechanic with the Hawaii Institute of Marine Biology, University of Hawaii, and a member of the ‘Ohana Lehua Bonsai Club in Hilo and the Kaneohe Congregational Church.
Friends may call at 10:30 a.m. June 12 for public visitation at Kaneohe Congregational Church on Oahu.
He is survived by wife, Barbara Keohokalole of Mountain View; daughter, Shari Keohokalole of Keaau; sister, Emalia Keohokalole of Kaneohe, Oahu; brothers, Adrian (Marilyn) Keohokalole and Dennis Keohokalole of Kaneohe, Oahu; one grandson; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
