Anna Chow

Anna Yin Tai Ching Chow, 94, of Hilo, died April 8, 2021, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Honolulu, she retired as an elementary school teacher and was a member of the Hilo Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. May 2 at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo for visitation. Private service and burial will be held May 3 at Homelani Memorial Park. Family requests casual attire and in lieu of flowers and monetary gifts, donations in her memory can be made to a charity of your choice.

She is survived by husband, Matthew Chow; daughters, Sharolyn (Tom) Parry of Brookfield, Wisconsin, Loriann (Peter) Bazan of Sonora, California; son, Craig (Joanne) Chow of Gardena, California; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Margaret Tilini

Pastor Margaret Mattie Kahi’ilani (Lindsey) Tilini, 56, of Waimea, died April 7, 2021.

She is survived by husband, Sione Tilini of Waimea; sons, Kalani (Leilani) Guerrero-Tilini and Naiven (Leysha) Tilini of Waimea, and Sione (Keiran) Tilini and Cortney (Tiare) Santiago of Hilo; daughters, Kawehi (Dillon) Tilini and Analeialoha (Ian) Stone of Waimea; brothers, Nelson (Louette) Lindsey and Weston Lindsey, of Waimea; sister, Tamara (Leslie) Purdy of Waimea; hanai sisters, Desiree, Denaise, Doreen, Debbie, Donna, Darlene; hanai parents, mama and papa Delosantos; 14 grandchildren; one great-grandson; and numerous nieces, nephews and hanai grandkids.

Muriel Ahuna

Muriel Doris Ahuna, 84, of Waimea, died April 19, 2021, at her residence. Born in Honolulu, she was a retired waitress with the former Elaine’s Hale Kuke Restaurant, a member of the Imiola Congregational Church and a former official of the Kawaihae Canoe Club.

She is survived by companion, Luis Ortiz of Waimea; sons, Oscar Ahuna and George Ahuna of Waimea; daughters, Athena (Bud) Luth of Kona and Muriel (Winton) Ahuna-Leong of Pahoa; sisters, Antoinette Hirai, Barbara Dacoscos, Charlene (Michael) Chang and Yolanda Paleras, all of Honolulu, Rubbe Linares of Arizona and Kathrine (Sonia) Dacoscos of Las Vegas; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Bettymae Thornton

Bettymae Kaaonauluwehiokamoe Thornton, 80, of Keaau, died April 17, 2021, at her residence. Born in Honolulu, she was a retired certified nurse’s aide at the Hilo Medical Center and member of Soka Gakkai International.

She is survived by sons, Dwayne Lacaran of Arizona, Darryl (Trudy) Balai of Pahoa and Vance (Linda) Lacaran of Oahu; daughters, Naydean Lacaran of Keaau and Danette (Arden) Costales of Hilo; and numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Aurelia Agbayani

Aurelia “Auring” Mendoza Agbayani, 80, of Pepeekeo, died April 5, 2021, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Sept. 28, 1940, in Lasam, Cagayan, Philippines, she was a retired factory worker for Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Co. and a member of the First Assembly of God Hamakua Church and Pepeekeo Filipino Association.

Pedro Queja

Pedro Gumtang Queja, 100, of Hilo, died March 11, 2021, at his residence. Born March 2, 1921, in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, he was a former intermediate school teacher in the Philippines, a retired kitchen utility worker at the former Naniloa Surf Hotel and a member of the First United Protestant Church in Hilo.
