The Big Island’s COVID-19 case count increased to 2,541 with three cases reported on Tuesday.
Statewide, a total of 61 new cases were reported by the Department of Health. Oahu reported 29 of those cases, Maui County 21 and Kauai none. Eight residents were diagnosed while outside the state.
Statewide, to date, there have been 30,287 people who have tested positive for COVID-19. The Big Island on Tuesday had a 1.7% test positivity rate, just under the statewide rate of 1.8%.
Over the past two weeks, the Big Island has reported 156 cases or an average of 11.1 cases per day.
The majority of cases reported on the Big Island in the past 14 days were in East Hawaii with 54 reported in Hilo and 12 in the Mountain View Area. Kailua-Kona reported 39.
Statewide, 46 people were hospitalized Tuesday, with three hospitalizations on the Big Island. To date, 2,357 people have required hospitalization, including 120 on the Big Island.
No new coronavirus-related deaths were reported on Tuesday. Of the 467 coronavirus-related deaths confirmed and reported by the state to date, 369 were on Oahu, 41 were on Maui, 53 were on the Big Island and one on Kauai. Three deaths were among residents outside the state.
No deaths have been reported on the Big Island this year.
