Statewide, a total of 100 new cases were reported by the Department of Health. Oahu reported 42 of those cases, Maui County 31 and Kauai had one new case. Ten residents were diagnosed while outside the state.
Statewide, to date, there have been 29,681 people who have tested positive for COVID-19. The Big Island on Wednesday had a 1.8% test positivity rate, just under the statewide rate of 1.9%.
Over the past two weeks, the Big Island has reported 132 cases or an average of 12.1 cases per day. The majority of those cases have been in East Hawaii with the Hilo area reporting 52 cases. The Kailua-Kona area has reported 24 in the past 14 days.
Statewide, 42 people were hospitalized Wednesday, with one hospitalization on the Big Island. To date, 2,319 people have required hospitalization, including 119 on the Big Island.
One new coronavirus-related death was reported on Wednesday among an Oahu resident. Of the 462 coronavirus-related deaths confirmed and reported by the state to date, 366 were on Oahu, 40 were on Maui, 53 were on the Big Island and one on Kauai. Three deaths were among residents outside the state.
No deaths have been reported on the Big Island this year.
