A 46-year-old Alaska man remains hospitalized in critical condition after being run over by a vehicle he was working on Friday afternoon at the Honokohau Small Boat Harbor in North Kona.

Responding to a 2:08 p.m. call, Hawaii Police Department officers determined that a light blue 1993 Ford F250 pickup truck had run over the man as he was working underneath the vehicle in the parking lot of the Big Island Sailing Foundation at the north side of the harbor, police said. No one was in the vehicle at the time of the accident.

The man, who has not been positively identified, was transported to the Kona Community Hospital where he was listed in critical condition.

Hawaii Police Department’s Area II Traffic Enforcement Unit has initiated a public accident investigation and is asking for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact Officer Cory Gray at (808) 326-4646, ext. 229, or email at cory.gray@hawaiicounty.gov.
