Tsuino Yoshiki

Tsuino Yoshiki, 106, of Kailua-Kona died March 8, 2021, at Kona Community Hospital. Born April 19, 1914, in Waimea, she was a room maid at the former Kona Surf Hotel and Kona Village Resort, a pantry worker at the Kona Inn and a member of Kona Hongwanji Buddhist Temple.

Private services will be held at later date. The family requests no flowers or koden (monetary contributions).

She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

David Kahihikolo

David Keahonui Kahihikolo, Jr., 84, of Hilo, died March 2, 2021, at home. He was born in Hilo and was a retired sheet metal worker with Custom Sheet Metal and a member of the Hawaii Sheet Metal Workers Union, Local 501.

Visitation 4-6 p.m. March 22 at the Dodo Mortuary chapel. A prayer service will be held at 6 p.m. Graveside committal service 8:30 a.m. March 23 at the Homelani Memorial Park. Seating is limited and face masks and social distancing are required. Casual attire.

Survived by sons, Eric (Elaine) Kahihikolo of Kona, Michael (Lori) Kahihikolo of Waimea and Dean Kahihikolo of Puna; daughters, Linda (Bernie Gaspar) Kahihikolo of Kona, Elizabeth (Beverly Hookano) Kahihikolo of Puna and Vanessa (Jodi) Kahihikolo-Pereira of Hilo; brothers, Damien (Mickie) Kahihikolo and John Kahihikolo of Honolulu; sisters, Paula Ann (Anthony) Napihaa and Charlotte (Patrick) De Coito of Hilo; sister-in-law, Sheila Yoshizumi of Hilo; 13 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson; numerous nieces &nephews.

Gregory Awai

Gregory “Hawaiian” Kaleinani Awai, 49, of Hilo, died March 2, 2021, at Hilo Medical Center. Born June 24, 1971 in Hilo, he was a construction laborer.

Memorial service held; ashes scattered at Puhi Bay.

Survived by daughter, Kaleinani Awai; partner, Kimberlee Sin; hanai children, Kerstin Lee Verece, Quentin Verece and Dustin Leong; mother, Rae Lee Awai; brothers, Charleston (Davonne Pacheco) Awai, Jr. and Keala (Christie) Awai; sisters, Melissa (Kimo) Palakiko, Summer Awai and Devin (John) Forrester; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Sheridan Kobayashi

Sheridan Howard Kobayashi, 75, of Hilo died on Mar. 5, 2021, in Keaau. Born in Hilo, he was employed by the State of Hawaii, Department of Agriculture.

Private services will be held at a later date.

Survived by sons, Neil (Daintry) Kobayashi of Keaau, Sean Kobayashi of Keaau; brothers, Thomas (Elaine Nakatani) Harrison of Hilo, Michael Kobayashi of Hilo, Terrill (Gail) Harrison of Hilo; a sister-in-law; two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

Daniel Teeters

Daniel Verley Teeters, 74, of Pahoa, died Sept. 16, 2020 at the Hilo Medical Center. He was born in Los Angeles and was a retired welder and a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

Services held.

Survived by son, Darby Teeters of Pahoa; wife, Valerie Teeters of Pahoa; sister, Susan Teeters of Pahoa; one niece and two nephews.

Audrey Pakani

Audrey Leinaala “Travis” Pakani, 79, of Waiokawa, Hawaii, died Jan. 24, 2021, at her family’s residence. Born in Hilo on Dec. 31, 1941, she worked for Honolulu City Hall, Koehnen’s Trucking Company, Hilo Kim Chee Company, and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was involved with many Native Hawaiian interests including Moani Keala Akaka, Protect Kahoolawe, Waimea (Parker Ranch) with Sonny Kaniho, Kamaoa, Kau, Kukailimoku Village and more.

Services will be held at a later date.

She is survived by her daughters, Renee (Kuahiwinui) Mata of Waiokawa, Ron Mata and Mimi (Noe Freitas) Mata, all of Middle Keei, Joey (Kekoa) Mata of Kealakekua, Mona (Victor, Sr.) Lorenz of Keaau, and Travis (Boerstol) Arakawa of Honolulu; sons, Bradda Boy (Stacey) Mata, Jr. of Los Angeles, CA., Braddah Toby Pakani of Waiokawa; brother, Ronald Travis of Las Vegas, NV; sister, Berta Ochi of Salt Lake, Utah; 18 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Albert Kepano

Albert Kaleikini Kepano, 70 of Hilo, died March 14, 2021 at his home. Born in Kalaoa (Kona), he was a retired contractor and a member of Jehovah.

He is survived by brother, Lui Kepano, Jr. of Hilo; sisters, Shirley Meyer-Neenah of Wisconsin, and Bessie Kepano Mahi of Kailua-Kona, numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Setsuko Deguchi

Setsuko Deguchi, 100, of Kailua-Kona, died Feb. 9, 2021, at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Paia, Maui on Nov. 3, 1920, she was the proprietor of the former Kitchen Cook Potato Chip Company; and a member of Kona Hongwanji Buddhist Temple.

Services will be held.

She is survived by her son, Kevin (Bernie) Deguchi of Captain Cook; daughter, Iris (Kiyoshi) Watanabe of Los Angeles, CA; brother, Hisashi Horiuchi of Hilo; four grandchildren; a great grandchild; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Ichiro Ito

Ichiro “Ichi” Ito, 96, of Kapaau, died March 27, 2020, at home. Born June 26, 1923, in Kohala, he was retired from Kohala Nursery and the former Kohala Sugar Co., worked at K. Takata Store, was a U.S. Army World War II veteran and a member of Hawi Jodo Mission.

Private family service 10 a.m. March 27, 2021 at the Ito residence. Urn committal service at noon March 30 at West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery.

He is survived by wife, Jerby Ito of Kapaau; step-children, Alfredo Ayoso and Moana (Glen) Cornelio of Kapaau, Luana (Layne) Corpuz of Las Vegas; eight grandchildren, one great-grandchild, numerous nieces and nephews.
