Earthquake strikes NNE of Pahala, no tsunami triggered

No tsunami was triggered by a magnitude-4.0 earthquake Wednesday afternoon north-northeast of Pahala.

The earthquake was recorded at 2:22 p.m. and was centered about 10 miles north-northeast of Pahala, according to the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center and U.S. Geological Survey.

The center said no tsunami is expected, though some areas may have experienced shaking. Within 20 minutes of the temblor, the USGS’s Did You Feet It? Website had received more than 10 reports from as far away as Holualoa and Kurtistown.
