The Big Island reported 10 new COVID-19 cases Monday, bringing the total number of cases to 2,282.
Statewide, a total of 45 new cases were reported Monday by the Department of Health. Oahu reported 21 of those cases, Maui County 11 and Kauai none. Three residents were diagnosed while outside the state.
Statewide, to date, there have been 27,935 people who have tested positive for COVID-19. The Big Island on Monday had a 1% test positivity rate, just under the statewide rate of 1.1%.
Over the past two weeks, the Big Island has reported 49 cases or an average of 5.3 cases per day. The majority of those cases have been in West Hawaii, with the Kailua-Kona area have reported 16 of those cases.
Statewide, 27 people were hospitalized Monday, one of whom was receiving care on the Big Island. To date, 2,226 people have required hospitalization, including 115 on the Big Island.
No new coronavirus-related deaths were reported on Monday by the state. Of the 445 coronavirus-related deaths confirmed and reported by the state to date, 353 were on Oahu, 35 were on Maui, 53 were on the Big Island and one on Kauai. Three deaths were among residents outside the state.
No deaths have been reported on the Big Island this year.
