Henry Gandalera, 49 of Ocean View, died at Maui Memorial Medical Center on Feb. 17, 2021. Private services to be held.
He is survived by brothers Pedro (Carolyn) Gandalera, Augustine Gandalera; sisters Frances (Oscar) Garcia, Cat (Mikey Jr.) La Marco; nieceS Mikaela La Marco, Vicenta Gandalera, Lynn (Sione Kaholo) Gandalera, Adriana (Jakub Fillmore) Acevedo, and Dawn Coker; nephews, Trey La Marco, Marco (Katelyn) Diaz, Vincent (Nikki) Diaz, Alex Gandalera; and numerous grandnephews, uncles, aunts and cousins.

Nicholas Vegas
Nicholas “Nicky” Vegas, 82, of Halaula, HI, died Feb. 15, 2021, at the Kona Community Hospital. Born in Kohala on April 9, 1938, he was a retired dishwasher at the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel and member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Private services will be held at a later date.
He is survived by his brother, Raymond (Christine) Vega and sister, Roseline Noble, all of Hawi; aunt, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Janice Dassance
Janice Ann Howells Dassance, 72 of Kainaliu, died on Feb. 25, 2021 at home. Born in Los Angeles, CA, she was a retired sheep farmer and wool producer from Kalopa.

Janice is survived by her husband, Lance Dassance of Kainaliu; ex-husband, Bill Walker of California; sons, Sunny (Sherrie Ann) Walker of Hilo; Nino (Karen) Walker of Switzerland; Chip Dean of California; daughters, Sally (Al) Dean Mello of Massachusetts; Bryson (Brian) Dean-Gaughier of Massachusetts; brother, Peter Howells of Nevada; five granddaughters and numerous extended family.

Henry Wesselman, III
Henry “Hank” Barnard Wesselman, III, 79, of Captain Cook, died Feb. 15, 2021, at Kona Community Hospital. Born Aug. 20, 1941 in New York City, New York, he was an author and a teacher.
Private service held.
He is survived by wife, Jill Kuykendall; daughters, Erica Wesselman both of Captain Cook, Anna Wesselman of Brisbane, Australia; hanai daughter, Thea Khama of Botswana.

Lorina Springer
Lorina Cabral Springer, 93, of Hilo died Feb. 22 at the Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in Hilo, she was a retired switch board operator and receptionist for the former Royal Hawaiian Macadamia Nut Company, member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hilo Women’s Club, YMI Ladies Auxiliary, a founding member of the St. Joseph Church Aloha Choir and an avid golfer.
Visitation from 9-10 a.m. March 9 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel; a private prayer service and entombment at Homelani Memorial Park will follow. Family request casual attire and no flowers. Face masks and social distancing required.
Survived by son, Michael (Kim) Springer of Hilo; daughters, Donna Mae Springer of Hilo, Patrice (David Fransen) Springer of Arkansas; 15 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
