The Big Island reported four new COVID-19 cases Friday, bringing the total number of cases to 2,256.
Statewide, a total of 54 new cases were reported Friday by the Department of Health. Oahu reported 29 of those cases, Maui County 18 and Kauai none. Three residents were diagnosed while outside the state.
Statewide, to date, there have been 27,753 people who have tested positive for COVID-19. The Big Island on Friday had a 0.5% test positivity rate, below the statewide rate of 1%.
Over the past two weeks, the Big Island has reported 31 cases or an average of 2.7 cases per day.
Statewide, 27 people were hospitalized Friday, one of whom was receiving care on the Big Island. To date, 2,226 people have required hospitalization, including 115 on the Big Island.
Two new coronavirus-related deaths were reported on Friday by the state. Both were on Oahu. Of the 443 coronavirus-related deaths confirmed and reported by the state to date, 353 were on Oahu, 33 were on Maui, 53 were on the Big Island and one on Kauai. Three deaths were among residents outside the state.
No deaths have been reported on the Big Island this year.
