Robert Stewart Dowling, 97, of Kailua-Kona, died Feb. 11, 2021 in Kailua-Kona. Born Feb. 19, 1923, in Chicago, he was a U.S. Navy veteran and worked as an outside sales representative for oil companies.

He is survived by spouse Atsuko; sons, John Dowling of El Granada, CA; James (Donna) Dowling of Shasta, California; and daughter Kathy Dowling of Santa Barbara, CA.

Takako Goto, 86, of Keaau, died Feb. 16, 2021, at her residence. Born in Omura, Nagasaki Ken, Japan, she was a piano instructor, record store owner, vineyard farmer in Dinuba, CA and a member of the Church of Perfect Liberty.

She is survived by sister, Miyako Yamamoto Naylor of Keaau; nephews, Toshiyuki Mikuriya of California, and John (Maria Perpetua) Nobuyuki-Mikuriya Akagi of Keaau; and niece, Mari Mikuriya of California.

Howard Polialoha Beamer, 69, of Waimea, died Feb. 16, 2021, at Hale Ho’ola Hamakua. Born in Honolulu, he was a former golf professional at the Princeville Resort on Kauai.

Teruo Kodani, 95, of Hilo, died Feb. 4, 2021, at a private care home in Hilo. Born Feb. 20, 1925, in Hilo, he retired as an insurance agent representing First Insurance Co. and Bishop Insurance Co. and was a U.S. Army veteran.
Private services held. The family requests that flowers and koden (monetary contributions) be omitted.
He is survived by son, Michael (Mary Ann) Kodani of Hilo; daughters, Leila (Keith) Shimizu of Kailua-Kona and Joan (Roy) Takemoto of Hilo; sister, Doris Motoda of Honolulu; grandchildren, Brandon Shimizu and Matthew Takemoto; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

Bernaldo Abella
Bernaldo Ramos Abella, 95, of Papaaloa, died Feb. 15, 2021, at his residence. Born Nov. 19, 1925, in Santa Cruz, Ilocos Sur, Philippines, he was a retired cane truck and service truck driver for the former Davies Hamakua Sugar Plantation Co. and a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Laupahoehoe.
Friends may call at 8 a.m. March 4 Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 10 a.m. service. Burial to follow at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church Cemetery.
He is survived by wife, Modesta Abella of Papaaloa; daughter, Josie (Derek) Aurio of Hilo; daughter in-law, Cheryl Abella of Papaaloa; and three grandchildren.
