According to a police report, 28-year-old David Scott Paulino was arrested and charged with two counts of felony abuse of a family or household member after a violent incident at a residence on Ohai Street in Hilo on Sunday, according to the Hawaii Police Department.
According the report, a 24-year-old woman called police and told them that Paulino, her boyfriend, had grabbed her by the throat and strangled her during an argument Sunday and also punched her in the torso. A child under the age of 14 was also present during the incident, according to police.
Paulino was arrested with his bail set at $20,000. At a preliminary hearing Monday, he was granted supervised release, but was warned to not contact or approach the woman or child from the incident.
