Full Life Hawaii participants, Kona staff members and a few Special Olympics Hawaii athletes recently “spear-hearted” a Valentine’s Day card and candy distribution to frontline workers in West Hawaii.
Receiving goodies were health care workers at North Hawaii Community Hospital and Kona Community Hospital, law enforcement officers with the Hawaii Police Department, first responder with the Hawaii Fire Department and soldiers of the Hawaii Army National Guard.
The Feb. 14 distribution project was the first project undertaken under a partnership between Full Life and the Kiwanis Aktion Club, a service leadership program for individuals with developmental disabilities. Full Life provides direct services to adults and children with developmental disabilities so they can live a full life in the community.
Surprising the workers was about doing something “kind our front line workers who are protecting and saving our lives,” said Denise Lindsey, Full Life Aktion Club Mentor. To all the essential workers, “we are thankful for your commitment to caring for our community.”
