Four new COVID-19 cases were reported Sunday on the Big Island, bringing the island’s total case count to 2,232.
A total of 68 new cases were reported across the state by the Department of Health with Oahu reporting 33 of those cases, Maui County 28 and Kauai none. Three residents were diagnosed while outside the state.
Statewide, to date, there have been 27,174 people who have tested positive for COVID-19.
The Big Island on Sunday had a 0.4% test positivity rate, below the statewide rate of 1%.
Over the past two weeks, the Big Island has reported 37 cases or an average of 2.3 cases per day. Most of the cases have been in West Hawaii with the North Kona area reporting 11 in the past 14 days.
Statewide, 42 people were hospitalized Sunday, one of whom was receiving care on the Big Island. To date, 2,182 people have required hospitalization, including 114 on the Big Island.
One new coronavirus-related death was reported on Oahu on Sunday by the state. Of the 431 coronavirus-related deaths confirmed and reported by the state to date, 344 were on Oahu, 30 were on Maui, 53 were on the Big Island and one on Kauai. Three deaths were among residents outside the state.
No deaths have been reported on the Big Island this year.
