A total of 67 new cases were reported across the state by the Department of Health with Oahu reporting 45 of those cases, Maui County nine and Kauai one. Five residents were diagnosed while outside the state.
Statewide, to date, there have been 27,000 people who have tested positive for COVID-19.
The Big Island on Thursday had a 0.6% test positivity rate, below the statewide rate of 0.9%.
Over the past two weeks, the Big Island has reported 38 cases or an average of 2.6 cases per day. Most of the cases have been in West Hawaii with the North Kona area reporting 11 in the past 14 days.
Statewide, 39 people were hospitalized Thursday, one of whom was receiving care on the Big Island. To date, 2,179 people have required hospitalization, including 114 on the Big Island.
One new coronavirus-related death was reported Thursday on Oahu by the state. Of the 427 coronavirus-related deaths confirmed and reported by the state to date, 342 were on Oahu, 29 were on Maui, 53 were on the Big Island and one on Kauai. Three deaths were among residents outside the state.
The Big Island’s COVID-19 fatality rate remained at 2.4% on Thursday, above the statewide rate of 1.6%. No deaths have been reported on the Big Island this year.
