Jesse Snyder &the MUSE Band will star in a special Valentine’s Day concert broadcast live on Kahilu TV from the Kahilu Theatre stage on Sunday.
Snyder is a multi-instrumentalist, arranger, composer, and vocalist. He plays tenor and baritone saxophones, clarinet, flute, drums, has a smooth baritone singing voice, and is one of the most in-demand musicians in Hawaii for both live performances and recording sessions. He wrote the horn arrangements and played saxophone, clarinet, traditional Hawaiian nose flute, and ipu (gourd) for the innovative swing jazz band Kahulanui, which received nominations for the Grammy Awards, and were the 2018 recipients of the Na Hoku Hanohano Award for Jazz Album of the Year.
When performing, Snyder’s classic cool style can be light-hearted with whimsical riffs, deep down soulfully funky, or creatively upbeat with hi-hat or his signature high kick. Regardless of the selected style, Snyder is always involved and enthusiastic. He transcends multi-genres including jazz, neo-soul, R&B, reggae, hip hop, Afro-Cuban, Brazilian, and contemporary jazz, lending a fresh energy to every performance. Snyder’s crooner vocal style has been compared to Harry Connick Jr., Michael Buble and Michael Franks.
The MUSE Band comprises Jesse Snyder (vocals, tenor and baritone saxophones, clarinet, and drums), Noa Eads (drums), Pat Eskildsen (guitar), Brian McCree (acoustic bass), Dwight Tokumoto (steel guitar), and Loren Wilken (piano and keyboards).
Jesse Snyder &The MUSE Band take the stage at 4 p.m. exclusively on KahiluTV. There will also be a live talk story with Jesse and the band following the performance.
