The new Big Island cases were among 95 new cases reported across the state by the Department of Health. Oahu reported 62 new cases while Maui County reported 21 and Kauai zero. Eight residents were diagnosed while outside the state.
The Big Island on Thursday had a 0.5% test positivity rate, below the statewide rate of 1.4%.
Statewide, to date, there have been 26,675 people who have tested positive for COVID-19.
Statewide, 49 people were hospitalized Thursday, none of whom were receiving care on the Big Island. To date, 2,147 people have required hospitalization, including 114 on the Big Island.
Hawaii County Civil Defense on Thursday reported the Department of Health was monitoring three clusters related to gatherings on the island.
One new coronavirus-related death was reported Thursday on Oahu by the state. Of the 424 coronavirus-related deaths confirmed and reported by the state to date, 338 were on Oahu, 29 were on Maui, 53 were on the Big Island and one on Kauai. Three deaths were among residents outside the state.
The Big Island’s COVID-19 fatality rate remained at 2.4% on Thursday, above the statewide rate of 1.6%.
