The new Big Island cases were among 56 new cases reported across the state by the Department of Health. Oahu reported 42 new cases while Maui County reported nine and Kauai zero. Three residents were diagnosed while outside the state.
The Big Island on Wednesday had a 0.6% test positivity rate, below the statewide rate of 1.5%.
Statewide, to date, there have been 26,584 people who have tested positive for COVID-19.
Statewide, 52 people were hospitalized Wednesday, including one on the Big Island. To date, 2,140 people have required hospitalization, including 114 on the Big Island.
Hawaii County Civil Defense on Wednesday reported the Department of Health was monitoring three clusters related to gatherings on the island.
Five new coronavirus-related deaths were reported Wednesday by the state, three were on Maui and two were on Oahu. Of the 423 coronavirus-related deaths confirmed and reported by the state to date, 337 were on Oahu, 26 were on Maui, 53 were on the Big Island and one on Kauai. Three deaths were among residents outside the state.
The Big Island’s COVID-19 fatality rate remained at 2.4% on Wednesday, above the statewide rate of 1.6%.
