The new Big Island cases were among 75 new cases reported across the state by the Department of Health. Oahu reported 51 new cases while Maui County reported 15 and Kauai none. Two residents were diagnosed while outside the state.
The Big Island on Sunday had a 0.9% test positivity rate, below the statewide rate of 1.8%.
Statewide, to date, there have been 26,468 people who have tested positive for COVID-19.
Statewide, 64 people remained hospitalized Sunday, including one on the Big Island. To date, 2,106 people have required hospitalization, including 112 on the Big Island.
Two new coronavirus-related deaths were reported Sunday by the state, both on Oahu. Of the 416 coronavirus-related deaths confirmed and reported by the state to date, 335 were on Oahu, 26 were on Maui, 53 were on the Big Island and one on Kauai. Three deaths were among residents outside the state.
The Big Island’s COVID-19 fatality rate remained at 2.4% on Sunday, above the statewide rate of 1.6%.
