The Big Island reported just one new COVID-19 Friday, bringing the total number of cases to date to 2,187.
The new Big Island cases were among 101 new cases reported across the state by the Department of Health. Oahu reported 65 new cases while Maui County reported 27 and Kauai none. Eight residents were diagnosed while outside the state.
The Big Island on Friday had a 1% test positivity rate, below the statewide rate of 1.8%.
Statewide, to date, there have been 26,286 people who have tested positive for COVID-19.
Statewide, 64 people were hospitalized Friday, including one on the Big Island. To date, 2,106 people have required hospitalization, including 112 on the Big Island.
No new coronavirus-related deaths were reported Friday by the state. Of the 416 coronavirus-related deaths confirmed and reported by the state to date, 333 were on Oahu, 26 were on Maui, 53 were on the Big Island and one on Kauai. Three deaths were among residents outside the state.
The Big Island’s COVID-19 fatality rate remained at 2.4% on Friday, above the statewide rate of 1.6%.
