The Big Island’s COVID-19 case count increased by four Wednesday, bringing the total number of cases to date to 2,177.
The new Big Island cases were among 74 new cases reported across the state by the Department of Health. Oahu reported 41 new cases while Maui County reported 17 and Kauai none. Twelve residents were diagnosed while outside the state.
The Big Island on Wednesday had a 1% test positivity rate, below the statewide rate of 2%.
Statewide, to date, there have been 26,081 people who have tested positive for COVID-19.
Statewide, 74 people were hospitalized Tuesday, including two on the Big Island. To date, 2,086 people have required hospitalization, including 112 on the Big Island.
Four new coronavirus-related deaths were reported Wednesday by the state, all on Oahu. Of the 414 coronavirus-related deaths confirmed and reported by the state to date, 331 were on Oahu, 26 were on Maui, 53 were on the Big Island and one on Kauai. Three deaths were among residents outside the state.
The Big Island’s COVID-19 fatality rate remained at 2.4% on Wednesday, above the statewide rate of 1.6%.
