Strong trade winds, forecast to continue through Thursday night, continue to fuel elevated surf along the island’s exposed east-facing shores of the island’s northern, southern and eastern coasts, according to the National Weather Service. Wave heights of 5 feet to 8 feet are forecast.
Forecasters cautioned of strong breaking waves, shore break, and strong longshore and rip currents making swimming difficult and dangerous. Beachgoers, swimmers, and surfers should heed all advice given by ocean safety officials and exercise caution.
