The new Hawaii Island cases were among 153 new cases reported across the state by the Department of Health. Oahu reported 105 new cases while Maui County reported 34 and Kauai none. Six residents were diagnosed while outside the state.
Statewide, to date, there have been 25,154 people who have tested positive for COVID-19.
Hawaii County on Saturday had a 1.2% test positivity rate, under the statewide rate of 2.4%.
Statewide, 96 people were hospitalized Sunday, including two on Hawaii Island. To date, 2,014 people have required hospitalization, including 108 on Hawaii Island.
Six new coronavirus-related deaths were reported Sunday by the state; five from Oahu and one from Hawaii Island. Of the 342 coronavirus-related deaths confirmed and reported by the state to date, 271 were on Oahu, 20 were on Maui, 46 were on Hawaii Island and one on Kauai. Three deaths were among residents outside the state.
Hawaii County Civil Defense has reported no new deaths since the start of the year, leaving the death toll at 51. The state has yet to confirm and report five of the coronavirus-related deaths Civil Defense has announced.
The island’s COVID-19 fatality rate remained at 2.2% on Sunday, above the statewide rate of 1.4%.
