Minerva Kudo
Minerva “Mindy” H. Kudo, 65, of Pahoa, died Dec. 31, 2020, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Feb. 27, 1955, in Honolulu, she was a homemaker and member of Waiakea Baptist Bible Church and Hilo Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Friends may call between 9 and 10:30 a.m. Jan. 22 at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo followed by a private service at 10:30 a.m. Private burial follows at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Family requests casual attire be worn.
She is survived by husband, Kenneth Kudo of Pahoa; daughter, Lori-Ann Kudo of Kurtistown; son, Steven (Carol) Kudo of Honolulu; mother, Elizabeth Amor Sanchez of Honolulu; brothers, Randy (Natasha) Hayme and Salvador Jr. (Edlene) Hayme of Honolulu; sisters, Myrna Hayme-Andaya and Edith (Grayson Aiona) Hayme of Honolulu; grandson, Brady Kudo; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Karen Veloria
Karen Nahauoulani Keiko Veloria, 71, of Hilo, died Jan. 1, 2021, at Hilo Medical Center. Born July 17, 1949, in Honolulu, she was a nurse at Hilo Medical Center and member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Ainaola Ward.
Friends may call between 8 and 10 a.m. Jan. 28, 2021 at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo followed by a private service at 10:30 a.m. Friends may also call at noon at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2 for a graveside committal service. Family requests casual attire be worn.
She is survived by husband, Roy Veloria of Hilo; son, Kevin (Cindy) Veloria of Hilo; daughter, Jennifer Kanoe (Keoni) Dela Cruz of Hilo; hanai sons, Jacob Doran, Miniano Doran and Keala Doran of Hilo; mother, Daisy Ikeuchi of Honokaa; brother, Alan (Lei) Ikeuchi of Honokaa; sisters, Sandra (Glenn) Fortune of Honolulu and Susan (Carl) Tanoue of Honokaa; two grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Daniel Olsen
Daniel Myron Olsen, 38, of Hilo died Jan. 7, 2021, at his residence. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, he was a roofer and sheet metal worker.
He is survived by daughters, Lola-Jo Olsen and Summer Olsen; parents, Jeff and Susan Olsen; sister, Jenafer (Lenny) Wyatt; and brother, Paul (Lauren) Olsen.

John Mattos
John “Jippy” Howard Mattos, 81, of Hilo, died Dec. 10, 2020. Born Sept. 12, 1939, in Hilo, he was a retired road and construction maintenance superintendent for the Hawaii County Department of Public Works and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo.
Friends may call from 8 to 11:15 a.m. Jan. 29 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel; service at 10 a.m. with burial to follow at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2 at noon.
