Monthly siren test scheduled Monday
The monthly test of the all-hazard Statewide Outdoor Warning Siren System, coordinated with the test of the Live Audio Broadcast segment of the Emergency Alert System, is scheduled for 11:45 a.m. Monday.
During this monthly test, all Statewide Outdoor Warning Sirens will sound a one-minute Attention Alert Signal (Steady Tone). A simultaneous test of the Live Audio Broadcast segment of the Emergency Alert System is conducted with the monthly siren sounding, in cooperation with Hawaii’s broadcast industry. There will be no exercise or drill accompanying the test.
The all-hazard Outdoor Siren Warning System for Public Safety is one part of Hawaii’s Statewide Alert &Warning System used to notify the public during emergencies.
PTA announces training, convoys
Pohakuloa Training Area on Wednesday announced upcoming training at the base starting Jan. 20, 2021.
Military training for the month of January consists of unmanned aerial systems, aviation gunnery and artillery gunnery. Residents of Hawaii Island can expect to see, or hear, military aircraft supporting the ongoing training beginning Jan. 20, 2021, and continuing through the end of the month.
Convoys are planned 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Jan. 22, 2021, from Kawaihae to PTA and from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 22, 2021, from Kawaihae to PTA.
All service members training at PTA are prohibited from leaving the base unless authorized by Lt. Col. JR Borce, Commander of PTA.
