The new Hawaii Island cases were among 188 new cases reported across the state by the Department of Health bringing the total case tally to 21,397 since Feb. 28. Oahu reported 135 new cases while Maui County reported 27. Twelve residents were diagnosed while outside the state.
Hawaii County has a 1.3% test positivity rate, under the statewide rate of 2.7%.
Statewide, 99 people were hospitalized Thursday, including three on Hawaii Island. To date, 1,768 people have required hospitalization, including 99 on Hawaii Island.
Three new coronavirus-related deaths were reported Thursday by the state, including one on Hawaii Island and two on Oahu. Of the 288 coronavirus-related deaths confirmed and reported by the state to date, 223 were on Oahu, 17 were on Maui, 45 were on Hawaii Island and one on Kauai. Three deaths were among residents outside the state.
Hawaii County Civil Defense reported no new deaths on the island, leaving the toll at 51. The state has yet to confirm seven of the deaths reported to date on Hawaii Island.
The island’s COVID-19 fatality rate remained at 2.3% on Thursday, above the statewide rate of 1.3%.
