Magicians Robert Baxt, Jay Scott Berry, Charlie Frye, Barry Ganetzky, Shaun Jay, Barry Gitelson (aka the Great Barusky), and Arnie Rabin ( Arneleo the Great) will perform, with music by LT Smooth. As a special bonus, you can learn a magic trick to fool your friends.

The event will be online starting Saturday and run through Jan. 10. Tickets are $10 per household and are available at www.eventbrite.com. Proceeds will benefit SKEA, a nonprofit organization based in Honaunau dedicated to providing programs in the arts for the Kona community.

BSA announces featured artist for January

The Blue Sea Artisans Gallery featured artist for the month of January is fine art photographer Denise Bird.

Bird’s approach to photography is like her approach to life “I live in gratitude and my photography is an expression of that. I find the more gratitude in my heart, the more inspiration is received. On the ground, in the air, or under the sea, my desire and intent is to gather light, both visible and spiritual, to invite, uplift, and inspire all who will see.”

Bird has always been attracted to the arts. Early in childhood she was active in dance and the visual arts. Always making some sort of art piece to hang in her room or share with others. In the 1970s, Bird got creative with hair then went on as a dancer/dance instructor before dabbling in photography in the ’80s and ’90s. Her photography work has been seen around the world on TV and in books, magazines and ad campaigns.

Bird will be holding a drawing to win a 14-inch-by-14-inch gallery wrapped canvas of “Water Lily” valued at $125. The drawing will be held Feb. 2 at the gallery.

The Blue Sea Artisans Gallery, located in the Keauhou Shopping Center, is open 1 to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday.
