The new Hawaii Island cases were among 90 new cases reported across the state by the Department of Health bringing the total case tally to 16,266 since Feb. 28. Oahu reported 58 new cases while Maui County reported eight and Kauai four. Ten residents were diagnosed outside the state.
Hawaii County has a 1.4% test positivity rate, under the statewide rate of 2.5%.
Statewide, 58 people were hospitalized Saturday, including three on Hawaii Island. To date, 1,357 people have required hospitalization, including 80 on Hawaii Island.
Also Sunday, three new coronavirus-related deaths were reported by the state, bringing the death toll to 274. All were on Oahu.
Of the 274 coronavirus-related deaths confirmed and reported by the state to date, 211 were on Oahu, 17 were on Maui, 43 were on Hawaii Island and one on Kauai. Two deaths were among residents outside the state.
Hawaii County Civil Defense has reported a total of 49 coronavirus-related fatalities on Hawaii Island. The state has yet to confirm six of the deaths reported to date on Hawaii Island.
