Auction opens Dec. 7
Complete your holiday shopping and make a big difference for a 501(c)3 nonprofit sharing Kona’s stories.
Kona Historical Society will soon be auctioning off more than 200 fun and unique items to bid on, including historic photographs, art, unique experiences, land and water activities, autographed items by celebrities and sports stars, golf, dining, accommodations, jewelry, antiques and collectibles.
Kicking off Dec. 7, the society’s annual Online Auction plays a significant role in providing critical funding and support for its daily functioning and education programs. It also helps aid in the protection and stewardship of the society’s unique collections and two historic sites. It is the largest fundraiser of the year for Kona Historical Society, which hopes to raise $50,000. This year’s event theme is Ho‘okahi ka ‘ilau like ana, “Wield the paddles together.”
All the items in this auction will be sold online. The auction will run Dec. 7 through 13 at biddingforgood.com/konahistoricalHI. Items can be previewed ahead of the auction opening.

County announces free COVID-19 test schedule
Free COVID-19 drive-through testing will be provided at a handful of sites this week, Hawaii County announced Monday.
Today, testing will be available from 2 to 6 p.m. at Konawaena High School and from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Hilo Civic Auditorium.
On Thursday, testing will be conducted from 8 a.m. to noon at the Waimea District Park.
On Friday, testing will be available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Kahuku Park in Ocean View. Walk-up testing will also be offered.
On Saturday, testing will be offered in Puna, Hilo and Kailua-Kona. Testing will be available 8 a.m. to noon at the Hilo Civic Auditorium and from 1 to 5 p.m. at Keaau High School. From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., testing will be available at the West Hawaii Civic Center in Kailua-Kona.
No insurance is necessary to be tested, but those seeking testing should bring their insurance card if they have one. No co-pay for individuals being tested.
