One person is dead following a Tuesday morning structure fire in Kalopa Mauka.
Responding to the 11:30 a.m. alarm, Hawaii Fire Department personnel arrived at 44-2428 Kalaniai Road to find a 300-square-foot structure engulfed in flames.
The department said in a media release that the fire was under control within about 30 minutes of firefighters’ arrival and out by 12:40 p.m. Following the discovery of a fatality, the scene was turned over to the Hawaii Police Department for further investigation.
No additional information was available as of press-time Tuesday.
