With the new cases, the state has now recorded 15,318 COVID-19 cases since Feb. 28, including 1,311 cases on Hawaii Island.
As of noon Tuesday, 3,169 of the known cases were considered active, including 347 cases on Hawaii Island. An active case is defined as an individual who has tested positive for the coronavirus and is being monitored by the Department of Health.
Statewide, 57 COVID-19 patients were hospitalized Tuesday, including eight on Hawaii Island, two fewer than on Monday.
No new coronavirus-related deaths were reported in the state on Tuesday. Of the 219 coronavirus-related deaths confirmed and reported to date, 170 were on Oahu, 17 were on Maui, one on Lanai, 31 were on Hawaii Island and one was a Kauai resident receiving treatment in Arizona at the time he died.
Hawaii County Civil Civil Defense reported eight new coronavirus-related deaths on Hawaii Island on Tuesday, bringing the total number of fatalities to 48.
The state has yet to confirm 17 of the deaths reported to date on Hawaii Island. Twenty-seven of the deaths were among residents of the Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home in Hilo and four were at Kona Community Hospital.
