Where are the tourists?
Yesterday I took a small road trip to Waikoloa Village thinking it would be refreshing to see some happy vacationing faces. To my dismay, it’s still a ghost town. Shops closed up, some restaurants open with no patrons. So very disturbing, Just today (Oct. 30) WHT said 83,000-plus visitors had arrived in Hawaii since things opened up. I’m not seeing the convertible Camaros and Mustangs and the dozens of Jeeps associated with our visitors. It does appear those that are here would seem to be the condo- and homeowners coming back to enjoy their properties. That fattens the Costco wallet, but what about our other tourist related businesses.
I just wonder how much more of this we can sustain.
